DEFINITION · Updated June 2026

Maker order

A resting limit order that adds liquidity to the book and waits to be filled, rather than crossing the spread to trade immediately. Maker fills typically avoid the taker fee on Kalshi.

Trading as a maker is slower and uncertain, your order may not fill, but it sidesteps the taker fee, which compounds heavily for active traders. Disciplined traders rest orders at their target price and let the market come to them instead of paying to cross the spread.
